GUP #026
Theme: Vernacular
Vernacular photography. The word itself contains so much that its meaning remains empty. Luckily, we had the opportunity to browse through Erik Kessels' shed of stumbled-upon footage. And so climbing that attic is our attempt to point out the range of the 'vernacular'; from the archival documentation of Andrea Stulteins to the artistic interventions of Chantal Rens and Paul Bogaers.
For what ‘vernacular’ essentially represents is not so much the few pictures that have been found, but the many elements of photography that have always been neglected and forgotten. You are hereby invited to discover the beauty of the damned.
